The British leaders of all parties denounced the Germans as murderers and pirates, Iho enemy have deliberately broken everv law, human and divine, in conducting the war aaginst us, their leaders, princes, admirals and teachers have educated their whole people to carry (in brutality on a wholesale scale, and we are of the opinion that wliile the Dominion is showing considerable energy in supporting the "Empire, Ave have failed in the want of stringent control of resident Germans, naturalised or otherwise. The retention of Germans in responsible positions and inadequately controlling and punishing suspects and offenders is calculated to demoralise the public by apparently condoning the enormous crimes which tile Germans are committing against our Relatives and kindred. ' There are about 11.000 Germans over the age of 21 resident in New Zealand, and we earnestly and respectfully pray that all parties should join in taking more active steps to remove Germans and other alien enemies from responsible positions, and to more stringently and completely control the German element in New Zealand." The meeting also carried a resolution congratulating General 'Botha on his success in German South-west Africa.
