Captain Holmes oi'tiu'ed that mi person should he allowed to jjurfiiii.se. over ten shillings worth of each denomination surcharged German New Guinea stumps, which became of high philatelic value. LMooro was charged wita selling Captain Kaveuscroi't over ten shillings worth, and further with similarly purchasing himself. The Customs discovered a package in Aioore's baggage which .Moore admitted contained stamps of the face value oi ,XI(JU. Moore'.s defence was that ut no time were administrative orders issued restricting the sale of stamps, though there was an order restricting their sale to collectors and dealers, lie considered, the order applied only in the case of persons other than troops. In crossexamination he admitted writing to a dealer offering for sale stamps worth l.'is sil in Rabaul for £3O, and telling the dealer they were hard to get, hecause administrative orders had been issued arainst the sale to dealers. The court-martial did not announce its decision.
