A well-known sportsman called on me this morning, and expressed his indication at the wanton destruction of pigeons and luis in the Mountain Reserve by Maoris and others. Cast week buggies and motor-cars were at the ton end of the Palmer lioad, and about 20 Maoris were seen shooting, and it is said bagged about 300 turn and 100 piscons in the reserve. It is a pitv that something is not done to prevent the wholesale slaughter of these birds, especially in places which have been gazetted a sanctuary for game of all descriptions.

The Stratford Electrical Supply Company heid its annual mooting on Tuesday evening, when there was a, fair number of shareholders present. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The balance-sheet showed an increase on past year's working, and. taken altogether, the balance-sheet was decidedly the he-l' that has Ticen put before the shareholders. The retiring directors. Messrs. A. W. trudge, S. M.'Porritt and S_. IT. .Tames, wove re-elected, while Mr. X. .T. King was elected to fill an extraordinary vacancy on the directorate: Air. T. If. TVnn was re-elected auditor. ' At a subsequent meeting of directors, Mr. P. Masters was re-elected chairman.
