To the Editor. •Sir,—As a number of rumors are being falsely circulated as to my nationality, I ask you, sir, to publish 'the following particulars. My father, wdio resided in New Zealand for (ifl years, was a British subject—as my grandfather before him —having been born at Portsmouth, England. My father carried on business for many years in the Octagon, Dunedin, where I was born in 18(1;!.' Thus I am a New Zealander by birth. If further proof is needed, it is furnished by the fact that my son has enlisted for service against the'lving's enemies. 1 feci keen ly, as a British subject, that some misguided individual should have vented nis petty spite by damaging my window on Monday night, and can only assure him that such paltry acts as these are beneath the dignity of anyone filling himself a Britisher.
