WHARF WORKERS' COMPLAINT.

THE EMPLOYMENT OF MEX. Wellington, Monday. in order to discuss the methods adopted by the Auckland Wharf Laborers' Union on admitting persons to menibei ship, a meeting of Wellington unionists was held on Sumlav under the auspices of the local Wharf Laborers' Union. Se> oral waterside workers late of .'Auckland addressed' the meeting, stating that through being refused admission to the Union they were forced to leave Auckland. Some of tliein had to leave their families in Auckland and seek employment elsewhere, and all considered that at a time of grave, national peril like the present such restrictions should be abolished. Tile following resolution was carried: "Having heard first-hand reliable evidence that hundreds of reputable and industrious workers (because of their connection with the 1013 strike) are still denied the right to compete for a livelihood on the Auckland waterfront and elsewhere, this meeting of Wellington trades unionists hereby records its surprise anil indignation'that the present Government still knowingly allows such vindictive discrimination to exist at a time of such grave national peril as the present. Further, we call upon Mr. Massoy, as Minister for Labor, to take immediate and drastic action to open all the so-called new unions formed at the time of the strike to all workers of good character as provided by the Arbitration Act." A committee of the trades unions of Wellington was set up to arrange for a deputation to wait on the Minister fe.Labor.
