In the Air.
ZEPPELIN DRIVEN OFF. BELIEVED TO BE DAMAGED. London, May 17. The Admiralty announces that British aeroplanes drove off the Ranisgate Zeppelin and pursued her to the West Hinder lightship, Kig : it naval machines from Dunkirk attacked her at Nieiiport with gunfire and bombs, igniting the ship. The Zeppelin ascended to 11,000 feet, tail down. It is believed she was severely damaged. The British machines were exposed to heavv fire, but there were no casualties. A Deal pilot states that five Zeppelins were sighted steering north-westerly near the North Foreland. The Zeppelin was flying over the vicinity of the North Goodwin lightship until towards two o'clock, when the inhabitants of Ranisgate were startled by a loud report like a cannon. Forty or lil'ly incendiary bombs were dropped throughout the town and considerable damage was done to houses, also to three smacks in the harbor. A bomb demolished the front and every lloor of the Hull and George Tnn. An aged man and his wife were precipitated through two floors to the cellar. A waiter was also taken to the hospital. Seven officers and thirty-three men were taken prisoner.
