(From Our Own Correspondent). HARBOR BOAuD. 'roe monthly meeting of members of the W'aitara Harbor Hoard was hold on Friday evening-. Present: Messrs J. Hint; "(chairman), H. Spurdlc, C. Blan-c-hard, 11. E. Vatiglian, A. F. llalcombc, 11. AlcKenzie and A. W. Ogle.
Messrs Roy ami Nicholson forwarded the necessary legal agreement of the lessee's interest of sale by .Air. AY. K Wickham and purchased by Air. Percy 1). Leah for the Board's approval.--Agreed to. The 'Audit Inspector wrote acknowledging the Board's letter drawing attention to the excessive charges in connection with the late audit and stating that the resolution of tlie Board bad lietn forwarded to the Auditor-I.'cucral, and a reply would be received in due course.
The Audit Department wrote stating that the audit charges were not excessive, .and the time occupied by tlie Audit Inspector was fully required in order fo vflic.iontly perform the work of the audit.
'Messrs Hoy and Xicholson forwarded for the Hoard's consent a deed of sublease from Mr. XV. V. Ncwbery to Mr. lSvan Henry .Tones of the western part -' sn'u-seetion si, part of Fections 14. 10 and 17, block !M, town of Waitara West, being part of tlie land comprised in the lease from tlie .Board to XV, F. Newbery. —Agreed to. Mr. E. 1!. Lain;.' wrote enclosing account of .-US 13s, which he claimed over and above the amount agreed to by tlie Hoard while acting ns pilot tor travelling and board allowances.—The Hoard decided not to entertain the account. IA: deputation from tlie Seaside Improvement Society waited on the Board to grant them legal rights of the piece of the beach required by them for improvements, etc.—The Board decided to grant the Society a yearly tenancy as suggested by the deputation, at a rental of Is per annum. The drawing up of conditions, etc., was left to the chairman and secretary. The chairman was authorised to take the necessary steps -for a poll in connection with the harbor loan as early as possible. Tt was decided that the whole Board be a works committee, four to form a quorum.
Messrs Spurdle, Vauglian and Ogle ivcre appointed a valuation committee.
Messrs Spurdle, Ogle and the chairman were appointed to interview the Board's solicitor in reference to the foreshore leases re lifting the restrictions, etc. It was decided to let the paddock hy the cattle wharf for grazing purposes on the same terms as hitherto.
Accounts amounting to £1(10 fls -Id were passed for payment, and the Board rose.
