STRATFORD NEWS.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) "' Information has been laid against S person under the Defence of the Realm Act for spreading false reports likely to cause distress to parents whose boys are fighting at the front. This is the outcome of a rumor reporting the death of one of the local men at the front. The ease comes on for hearing on Friday next. The following are the amounts to be paid out to different factories on the. 20th:—Ngaere £IBOS. Lowgarth £1315, Cardiff £1241, Stratford £4934. It is stated that the police intend to hold an enquiry into the recent fire in Broadway. At the' meeting of the StratfoTd Borough Council last night it was resolved on the motion of the Mayor and Cr. Thompson, that the Railway Department be urged to take over the land at present leased to Mr. Wake (the site of the recent lire) for the purpose of making an entrance to the railway station. 0
