NOT'CS ON THE RACING. j Racing opened with the Ngamutn Handicap, twelve runners sporting silk. Glenrov, on whom 'Arthur Olliver was making his reappearance after an enforced rest, was a warm favorite, Fortify and Foeman being best backed of the others. Coropet, on the rails, hopped out first, but had not gone many strides before Glenroy and Martlet headed him. Glenroy set a warm pace, and came into the straight with a good lead from Martlet, Glacier, Coropet and Veto. Holding his own in the run home, G!enroy scored by two lengths from Glacier, who beat, Veto by a length. Then followed Coropet, Martlet and Fortify. Avon Park did not go to the post for the Mokoia Handicap, and of the seven runners Play Off was a scalding hot favorite. Grattan broke the line and led Crown Pearl and Astor along the iiack. A9tor ran into second place at the tipn, and Play Oil', who had been badly Knocked about along the back, came with a great run. Grattan was first into the straight, but Play OIF immediately headed him, and finishing full of running.won by over a length from Crown Pearl, who came fast and just beat Astor for second money. Grattan and Wild Lupin were .most prominent .of the others.

Waipunoa, Xgapoto and R clock did not face the music in the Manawapou Hurdles,, nine starting. El Gallo was the hottest favorite of the. meeting, with Harbor Light next in favoritism. Expedition led off from Harbor Light and Dogger Bank. Entering the straight the first timo the order was the same, Katua being most prominent of the others. Expedition came to the end of his iournev in front of the stand, giving!!. T.ambesa a bad shaking. At the six fnrloncrs post Harbor Light was leading Katua and Dogger Hank, El Gallo coming fast. El Gallo bended Harbor Light entering the straight, and won pulling up by a length. " First Consul was a poor third, Katua fourth and Dogger Bank fifth. All started in the Opcke Handicap, Lady Amai being sent out slightly better backed than Xgapoto, while' Belle 'Paul came in for fair backing. Go On and Blue Thread caused n lot of delay at the barrier, but Mr. O'Connor eventually slipped them to an even start. Flying .Start, Blue Thread and Ladv Amai were, most prominent passing the stand and tho order was unchanged to the turn, where the trio were in line, with Xgapoto improving hia position fast. Lady Amai shook her opponents 0" at t" p distance, and won nicely by three lengths from Ngapoto, who headed Blue Thread in the last stride. Draft was fourth And 'Flying Camp next. * Fluke's withdrawal left six in' The Shoita, and tho fixed scale of weights made the race a moral for Tyson. The public emptied out on the "good tiling" and never had a moment's worry. TyRon was in front at once, and cantered along in front of Zion the whole way. I)ura,ne was an indifferent third, and JJeeside, Patroon and Golden Fan fo'loived in that order.

Tlie big race attracted nine horses, and was one of the best races of the meeting. Princess Montoa carried most money, and Crawfnivj ; Royal (Arms and Artcs were all well suppto**!. \ fine send-off saw Zetes, Avon Park and Ain "? , linu , P assi "g the stand. Along the back Avon Park and Zetes "ere together, followed by Crawford, Ratana and Wild Lupin. ' Zetes tried three furlongs from home and Avon Park and Oawford entered the straight together. _ Crawford was soon settled, but Maiuaroa (011 the outside) and Princess Moutoa (on the rails) joined issue. A great race home saw Maniaroa beat Princess Moutoa by a neck, Tu- j mT" Park ft simi,ai ' distance awav third. Then eamc Royal Amis, Wild Lupin and Crawford.

©raft and Phormium were the onlr withdrawals from the Borough Handicap leaving thirteen runners. Sylvan Hale. Calais and New York were well backed.
