NORTH TARANAKI HUNT.

MEET AT WAIIII. A bright sun accompanied by a strong chilly wind is not the sort of weather that pertains to good hunting, for the very sufficient reason that under suoh conditions "scent" is generally very bad. The meet was nt tne farm of Mr. W. llarris, Waihi, and that gentleman, with his wife and lady friends, extended a hearty we'eome to all who assembled, and dispensed light refreshments.

The hounds were cast oil' in the direction of the orchard, and from there went on and drew a turnip field, whkh also proved blank. Coining back towards the bottom of the orchard a good hare was soon put afoot, which took the followers about a three-mile run over portions of the farina of Messrs YV. Harris, 11. I'urdie, Skelton, and Mamt White, and puss was killed on the bank of the creek close to the main road. A move was then made across the road on to the property adjoining the Waihi school, where another hare was soon set going, and she took the field right to the sea beach, whore a second kill was recorded amongst some gorse.

By this time both horses and riders had had enough, and an adjournment was made to the homestead of Mr. Harris, where the followers and friends were entertained to afternoon tea by Mr. and Mrs. Harris.
