PALMERSTON NORTH CASES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston, N, Last Night. The Supreme Court opened to-day before Mr. Justice Hosking. Albert Simpkins, a jockey, appeared 011 a charge of presenting a false £3 totalisator ticket, purporting to be 011 Sir Fisher in the sixth race on the first day at the Feilding Easter races. The ticket really was issued on a horse with the same number in the third race. The accused said the ticket was given to him by a friend and he did not know it was not genuine A verdict of not guiity was returned. J. N. Bell, an old man, was charged with indecently assaulting and carnally knowing a girl 14 years old. The evidence for the prosecution showed that the prisoner lured the girl to a house ■where he committed the acts complained of. No evidence was entered for the defence. The jury returned a verdict of guilty of indecent assault. Prisoner asked for mercy 011 account of his old age, remarking he would bo in the grave in 12 months. He asked his Honor lot to semi him to gaol to die. He was sentenced to three and a half years' harl labor.

WELLINGTON SESSIONS. Wellington, Last Night. At the Supreme Court Henry Morgan Dwyer, a middle-aged man, was convicted of indecent assault on a small child. Sentence was deferred. James Andrews, a seaman on the steamer Corinthie, was charged with stealing or receiving a mail-bag and contents. He was found guilty of receiving and sentence was deferred. John Dalton, Alexander Robinson, and William Tyler were found guilty of assaulting Richard Hubert Bennett with intent to rob and were remanded for sentence. A CHRISTCHURCn CASE. Christchurch, Last Night. At the Supreme Court to-day Willin.n George Maslin was charged with indecent exposure alleged to have been committed in the Botanical Gardens 011 I March 4th. The case was not finished when the Court adjourned.
