ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
KILLED ON THE RAILWAY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, May 8. William Monaglian, a well-known local identity, was killed on the railway line at Kllcrslie last night. It is presumed that he fell oil' a train on finding that he was being carried past his stopping place or that he got oil' at the next, station and was walking back along the line to ■ Kllcrslie when overtaken by a train. Deceased was seeventy years of age, and a wealthy man. He figured in the Supreme and Bankruptcy Courts on several occasions. On one occasion his solicitor stated that Monaglian was worth between £IO,OOO and £14,000. DEATH FROM BURNS. Auckland, May 8. An inquest was held on the body of Joseph William Charley, aged do, who died at the Auckland Hospital. Ho was found at his residence at Mount Albert with very severe wounds on the head and face and other parts of the body, caused by the bed catching on fire when he was lying on it. Deceased attributed the fire to a lighted candle setting his pillow ablaze. lie thought he had extinguished the fire and went to sleep. Later he awakened and found his bed ablaze. A verdict of death from burns was returned.
