HUNTING.
TO-DAY'S MEET. At one o'clock this afternoon the North Taranaki Hunt will hold their second meet on Mr. Lewis Connett's farm, Bell Block. Those wishing to spend an enjoyable afternoon are afforded an opportunity to do so by attending the meet. Mr. Connett's farm, from a spectator's point of view, is an ideal place for a hunt, there being situated in about the centre of the farm a large hill, from which a splendid view of the surrounding country is to be obtained. Mr. Connect and his men have well sparred all the fences, and some capital jumping should be witnessed. Hares are plentiful, and, with the hounds in good nick, as they are sure to be under the care of Hunstman N. C. Pepperill, good runs should be the order of the afternoon. Many new members have, joined the hunt this season, and now that a totalisator permit has been granted the hunt, there is no doubt that there will be a great increase in the quantity as well as the quality of the horses hunted, as all horses taking part in the races must qualify, and to do so must attend at least six hunts during the season.
