The Dardanelles
ATTACK RESUMED. TROOPS' LANDED. London April 28. , An Admiralty and War Office communique states that in spite of"opposition the general attack on the Dardanelles by the fleet and army was resumed yesterday. The disembarkation of the army was covered by the fleet. It began before sunrise at various points on the (jlallipuli Peninsula. ,m spite of the serious opposition of the enemy behind strong entrenchments and entanglebefore nightfall a large force was cstabbefore nighfall a large force was established ashore. The bombardment in the Dardanelles was vigorously resumed on Sundays the large battleships participating. The forts replied.
LANDING OF TROOPS APPLAUDED. ALLIES SUCCESSFULLY ENTRENCHED. Received April 27, 10.55 p.m. London, April 27. The Times welcomes the landing of General Sir lan Hamilton's army at the Dardanelles, and states there should have been a conjoint action of the two services throughout. It is probable the navy is watching the lines at Bulair while the landing force, is attacking •the south-westerly end of the peninsula in order to cover further landing operations. The attention of the Germans and Turks was diverted by feints at ether points, giving the Allies on Gallipoli Peninsula time to entrench, which has been done successfully.
AEROPLANES AT WORK. Athens, April 2ii. Two Turkish aeroplanes were brought down at Tenedos. Several French aeroplanes threw bombs on the magazine at Mai'dos (Thrace), where there are important forts.
