HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. ' Wellington, Last Night. The Premier has received the following from the High Commissioner dated London, April 26, 5 a.m.:—ln the Carpathians on Thursday and Friday night a series of Austrian attacks against'the heights occupied bv| the Russians in the ..region of l'olen were repulsed, with enormous losses. The Austrians made equally unsuccessful attempts in the region of Wolviate, north-west of Uszok Pass. The Russians progressed on Friday in the •.district of Nedev.ec, St. Heast, Rostoki Pass and Sianki, two miles> from the 'jead of Uszok Pass. After obstinate fighting the Russians seized a series i ( of important heights in those regions. Army officers killed 7 wounded 12; men killed Bfl, wounded 104, missing 23. Canadian officers wounded 1; men killed 3, wounded 18. To the north of Ypres the combat continues under conditions favorable to the Allies. The Germans atta«3ced at t ecveral points on the British front, hut gained no ground. The Allies progressed on the right hank of the canal Joy a | vigorous counter-attack.
