STRATFORD NEWS.

HOUSEHOLDERS' MEETING. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Tile annual meeting of householders was held last evening, Jlr. It. Masters presiding over an attendance of about 35 householders. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. On the motion of Mr. P. Skoglund, seconded by Mr. Fookes, the following resolution was carried—That this meeting of householders urges on the Minister of Education the necessity of establishing a separate High School for Stratford. The idea is to take a part of the Domain property in Hamlet Street, of about seven acres, and the Domain Board is quite willing to fall in with the School Committee in this matter. '

A further resolution was passed, on the motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr. Skoglund—That iliis meeting of householders urges that the Taranaki education district be extended to the boundaries of the Taranaki Province. There were thirteen nominations for tln» committee for the ensuing year, and the following were elected:—Messrs. P. Skoglund, W, McDonald, F. J. McDonald, If. Sanderson, S. Ward. J. W, McMillan, T. C. Fookcs, F. A-, Cramer, and E. W. Hancock.

■ At a subsequent meeting of the com' mittcc, Mr. Skoglund was elected chairn '.an, and Mr. Ward secretary.

_ The annual meeting of the Building Society was held last night, when there were fifteen shareholders present, including Mr. X. ,T. King, chairman. The appropriations were drawn by Mr. B. Harkness and Mrs. W. Cartwright. * Mr. R. MeK. Morrison, candidate for the Mayoralty, addressed the electors at the Town Hall last evening, when there was a fair attendance. The Mayor presided. Mr. Morrison was given an attentive hearing, and was accorded a votf of thanks at the conclusion.
