HAMILTON SHOOTING CASE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, April 24. In the Supreme Court to-day, William McLeod, an expert rifle shot, came up for sentence. He was convicted on a charge of having injured Leslie Wilson, a Waikato resident, during a performance at the. Hamilton show. McLeod undertook, to shoot oil* the end of a cigarette which Wilson held in his iruutli, but the bullet went through Wilson's cheek. In passing sentence., Air. Justice Cooper took into consideration the ■ unique circumstances of the case, first that a j jury had found accused a most skilful marksman, second that he fired at. Wilson with the full consent of Wilson, thirdly, that injury U< Wilson was caused by the latter involuntarily shifting his head and that McLeod had compensated Wilson. In view of these facts, his Honor imposed a fine of £5 and ordered the prisoner to pay £lO costs. VTRGIN'S WILL. Wellington, April 24. The Kaimata tragedy of August, 1013, was recalled at the Supreme Court yesterday, when the Court was asked to iuterpi(t the will of Frederick Virgin, farmer, formerly of Tarata. The Court reserved its judgment. BREACH OF LICENSING ACT. Auckland, April 24 At the Police Court, Cyril 11. Clcvand, oi the Aurora Hotel, was fined ,€lO and had his license endorsed for selling liquor on Good Friday. The evidence showed that liquor was supplied to two constables oil' duty, whose names the licensee refused to divulge. A sergeant and a coustable knocked while the other (■•iistables were inside, but they got/ away before the admission of the «>rgeant. The Magistrate described the case as a deliberate and inexcusable breach.
