INGLEWOOD DISTRICT SCHOOLS.
THE MOA ASSOCIATION. At the last meeting of the Moa School Committees' Association, delegates from five schodls attended. Apologieß were received .'from Waitui and Waiongona, Musi's. A. Gray (technical director) and 6 C- Smith' (chairman of the head branch) were, present. The chairman brought forward a proposal wliich was briefly outlined, to further the cause of technical education, and showed how such could be put into force with ultimate benefit to the youth of both sexes.
Mr. A. Gray expressed pleasure at the proposal, stating there was no reason why it Should not lie initiated, and lie promised all the help possible, became of the value and encouragement ■which would result. He instanced what was done at Palmerston, and also in the South Island, and hoped the proposal as indicated would not be allowed to drop.
Mr. 'Capper (Kaimata) said he hoped the matter would not be lost sight of. ■A good ileal of discussion centring upon technical education took place, and Mr. Gray gave some valuable information.
The chairman stated that a number of small country schools contiguous • to Tnglewood had contributed £5 each towards the Technical School, and it was, under existing circumstances, not worth five pence to those communities. He blamed the committees and parents, and hoped that something would be done in the near future to remedy matters. Mr. Smith, as chairman of the executive in New 'Plymouth, gave a very interesting resume of the association proceedings, pointing out that the war had a great deal to do with preventing expansion. Several anomalies in the Education Act were touched upon. He expressed pleasure at the proposal as outlined by the chairman, and elaborated by Mr. Gray, and said Inglewood district would be forestalled by the New Plymouth end if they did not move in the matter quickly after the 'Committee election -:t'v-t!s
Several questions relative to association matters were referred to Mr. Smith by delegates present, and satisfactory replies given. Mr. Capper moved a hearty vote of thanks to Messrs. Gray and Smith for attending. The.motion was duly .carried.
