MAN FOUND' DROWNED. . By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wanganui, April 21. At Hid inquest on the man Challoner, who was found in the river on Friday, a verdict of found drowned was returned. SUICIDE AT WANGANUI. Wangamii, April 21. A man named Peter James Bell, aged 40, was found dead in bed this morning. A CARTER'S FATE. Whangarei, Last Night. An extraordinary accident, unexpectedly ending fatally to-day, occurred at Wairua Falls in connection with the Dominion Cement Co.'s works in course of erection. On Monday Thomas Oldeorn, a middle-aged man, employed as a carter, and residing at Whangarei, was driving a five-horsed covered van between the shear legs of a derrick; He thought the wheel touched one of the legs, so leaned forward to prevent a collision, when the endless derrick, chain caught him' round the neck and dragged him from his seat, seven feet high, to the ground. Oldeorn, who did not consider himself seriously hurt, was taken, protesting, to a doctor. His condition became worse, and he. was sent to the hospital, where he died today. _ A verdict of death from shock and injuries accidentally received was recorded.

A FATAL HORSE-KICK. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Ashburton, Last Night. At Fairfield on Tuesday night George McAlister, a resident of Ashburton, employed at _ Vie Fairfield freezing works, was catching his horse prior to returning homo, when the animal reared and kicked him in the abdomen. McAlister drove home, ihut on arrival complained of pains in the stomach. He was admitted to the hospital yesterday, mid died there last night before an operation could be performed.
