SHIPPING FREIGHTS.
•- ■<». THE TARIFF SUSPENDED. MORE MONEY WANTED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. Information has been received tftat the present rates of freight on goods shipped to or from New Zealand have 'lweii suspended. It is explained that this course of action has been adopted by the shipping companies owing ttf the world-wide demand for tonnage and the uncertainty regarding charters. A! representative of one of the shipping companies explained this evening that, having suspended all existing tariff % the companies will probably fix th* rates of freight for each vessel as it comes on to the loading berth. He remarked that the conditions would be virtually the same as in the days of the sailing ships, when such a thing as * fixed tariff was unknown.
