DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB.
A DAY'S MARCH. The members of the New Plymouth Defence Rifle Club left the Coronation | IHall at 7.30 yesterday morning on a j march to Waireka, where the engageI ments with the Natives took place years | ago. A halt was made at the Omata Hall, where morning tea was supplied. | The march was then continued through I the properties of Messrs. Mace, Clemow I and Bailey, who .pointed out the places of interest. D'n returning to the hall, tea was again nartafcen of, a start for town being made at 12.15 p.m., and town was reached at 1 p.m. Before leaving the hall, President J. J. Hill expressed thanks to Messrs. Bailey. Mace Clenow and 1). Hooker for allowing members to go over their properties, and foi the informaton they had given. Thanks was also accorded to Sergeant-Major Davies, Riflemen Bond and Moore for the refreshments provided. The mareh was the most enjoyable yet held and also the most interesting. Veteran Bugler Walker marched the whole distance (15 miles), and was as fresh as anyone at the finish.
