Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their Johlisonville sale as follows: —A fair entry of bullocks and a heavy one of extra prime sheep cnmc forward and sold well at the following prices: Prime light bullocks £l3 10s to £l3 17s Od, lighter £l2 I7s Gd, extra prime woolly wethers 30s, prime heavy wetlie.rs 27s (id, light wethers 22s (id, i extra prime heavy ewes 24s 9d to 25s 2d to 25s l()d, prime ewes 22s 7d to 22s !)d to 235, light ewes IDs 2d, woolly lambs l(is 5d to 17s 3d, good shorn lambs 15s. BUKXSIDE. At Burnside prices on the whole remained at last week's values. Prime bullocks £l3 10s to £l4, extra to £ls 10s, medium £9 5s to £lO 7s Gd, prime cows and heifers £8 12s Od to £9 17s Gd, extra to £ll 12s Gd, medium £0 15s to £7 17s Gd, light and aged £5 5s to £0 15s. Fat slieep—s6oo yarded. Prime wethers were in short supply, and consequently the demand for this class was brisk at Is under last week's values. On account of the freezing works being practically blocked, export buyers were in a .position to secure only a rew pens, and as the supply was much beyond butchers' requirements a drop of 3s Gd to 4s a head on last week's rates was recorded, and even at the reduced values sales were difficult to effect, a number of slieep being turned out unsold. Prime wethers 22s Od to 24s 9d, extra to 275, medium 20s to 21s 9d, prime ewes 19s to 22s 3d, extra to 20s 3d, medium IGs tq»l7s 9d, light 12s fid to 14s. Fat lambs —1500 yarded, made up largely of medium-weight and unfinished sorts, and as export buyers had only a limited space allotted to them bidding was slow, prices being fully 2s Gd per head under last week's values. But for the competition of graziers a much greater fall would have been recorded. Heavy prime, 18s to IDs 3d, extra 22s Gd, medium 10s 3d to 17s Od, light and unfinished lis to 13s fid. Pigs—ss stores and G2 fats yarded. Baconors met with strong competition, and realised advanced prices. Porkers also met with a good sale, but stores and weaners were not in request, and showed little improvement.
AUCKLAND. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company Limited, report as follows: At Westfield Yards on Thursday last, dairy and store cattle came forward in full numbers, and sold at fully late rates. Best dairy cows, close to 'profit, sold at from .£8 10s to £ll ss; others £5 to £7 15s; aged and inferior sorts, £2 10s to £4 12s <sd; empty cows, £3 to £4 17s 0d; heifers, £2 10s to £3 15s; calves 20s to 38s; bulls, £5 to £7 15s.
At 'Albert "Yards on Friday, horses were yarded in average numbers, and sold at late rates. Heavy draught horses, £lB to £27 10s; medium ditto, £l6 to £23; hacks, £6 to £l6; light harness horses, £5 to £10; ponies and weeds, £1 to £3 10s. At Westfield Yards on Wednesday, fat cattle were penned in full yarding, of nice quality, and for extra prime/ oxen prices advanced, others remaining unchanged. (Prime oxen sold to £2 2s per 1001b, others 38s to £2; cows and heifers, 30s to 37s fid per 1001b; steers sold at from £lO to £lO 12s Gd, cows • and heifers £4 10s to £l3 10s; a draft of 40 steers from Waikato averaged £]."> 17 s Cd, and all other consignments of steers averaged over £l3. Veal calves came forward in-very large numbers, and declined in price on last week. We quote: Heavy vealers, £5 to £0 3*, medium ditto £4 to £4 18s, others £3 to £3 10s, smaller £2. to £2 19s, smaller 18s to 38s, fresh dropped and small calves 3s to 18s. Sheep were yarded in average numbers, and sold under keen competition at fully last week's rates; wethers, heavy-weights, sold at from £1 4 sGd to £1 t)s 3d, others 19s 9d to £1 3s 9d; ewes, extra sold at from £1 4s (id to £1 93 3d, to £1 5s 9d. Lambs yarded in average numbers sold at improved rates. Best, £1 to £1 4s Gd, others 15s to £l. iPigs were penned in short supply, and sold well at late rates. ADDING TOK. Fat Cattle. —Extra steers made to £l7 ss, ordinary steers £6 15s to £9, extra heifers to £l3 ss, ordinary heifers £5 17s fid to £B, extra cows to £lO, ordinary cows £4 17s Gd to £7 10s; price for beef per 1001b 28s to 40s. Store Sheep.—Forward lambs, 10s 3d to 12s Od, ordinary lambs 6s Gd to 9s 9d, inferior lambs 2s 9d to 5s Cd, good sound-mouth ewes to 15s Od, good 2tooth ewes to 7d, good G-tooth ewes to 16s Id, good 1 4 and 5-year ewes to 12s Od, inferior sound-mouth ewes 7s 6d to 10s fid, good 4, 0 and 8-tooth ewes 10s Cd to 15s. Pigs—Choppers 40s to 725, extra, heavy baconers to 725, heavy baconers 60s to (57 5, light baconers 47s Od to 555; price per lb si/ t d to si/»d. Heavy porkers 35s to 40s, light porkers 30s to 335; price per lb 5%d to 5%d. Fat Lambs.—(Prime lambs 15s to 20s, others 8s 3d to 14s fid. Fat Sheep.—Prime wethers 19s to 23s Gd, others 14s to 18s 6d, prime ewes 18s to 21s Id, medium 13s to 17s Od, others <is lOd to 12s Gd, merino wethers 19s 3d.
MATTHEWS, GAML'IN AND CO.'S REPORT. Matthews, tiamlin and Co. report a full yarding of stock in their Inglewood yards last Wednesday. All sheep, good yearling steers and fat and forward cows were well competed for, but thin 1 cows, and yearling heifers were very dull of sale.
