Mr. ,A. IT. Johnstone returned from Wellington by last night's express. Tlis friends will be pleased to hear that Mr. W. J. Chancy, who recently underwent a serious operation, is makgood progress towards recovery. .. Mr. Malcolm Ross, New Zealand's official correspondent to act with the expeditionary force on active service, left Svdney for London by the Morea yeatcr: day.
Mr. J. Hislop, Under-Secretary for Interna] Affairs, who attended a meeting of the Patriotic Fund and Belgium Relief Committee in New Plymouth last evening, returns to- Wellington this morning.
Mr C. W. D. Bell, son of the Hon. PI. I). Bell, has been transferred from King Kdward's Horse to the 10th Hussars, in which ho holds a commission. It is understood that nominations for the 10th Hussars can only be received froni liin Majesty the King.
The Rev. 11. 0. Fenton, son of the late Archdeacon Fenton, has been appointed assistant to Dean Fitchett in All Saints' parish, Dunedin. After graduating at the New Zealand University, Mr. Fenton went to England for his theological training, and was ordained from Ely Theological College.
