The Labor Conference discussed tbi Upper House question. Mr. Holman wa» severely heckled for promising the ap« pointment of men who had not sigjied; the Labor pledge. Mr. Holman stuck to his guns and up* pealed to the conference to leave thV matter in the bands of the Ministry* saying that if the Ministry was unfitto discharge a task of tliis kind it was unfit to be in power. It was resolved that no one slwll M nominated to the Upper House who had not been a member of an affiliated iinkmfor three, years previously, and who had' not paid the recognised standard wagdj in the particular industry or calling dur-f ing those three years.
