(From Our Resident Reporter.) Stratford, Monday. Constable Bleosel is laid up with a serious attack of jaudicc. . Constable Bmilton, of New Plymouth, is at present relieving. A very heavy frost was experienced here this morning. Early risers say it was easily the worst this season. Mr. E. Burgess, of Hamilton, formerly a resident here, is on a visit to Stratford. It is rumored that the Police Department intend closing the Te Wera station and transferring the constable in cliarge to another district. Advice has been received that Lieut. Furby, who went with the expeditionary force to Egypt, has been promoted to catain.
Several parents whose sons are at present in the training camp at Trentham, complain bitterly at the boys being made to pay their railway fare when granted leave to visit their parents to say farewell before leaving for the front. It does not seem the right thing that these boys, who may be giving their lives for their King, should be compelled to pay their fares, and I have no doubt when Parliament meets some ouestions will be asked on this matteAn accident occurred at "V t oh Sunday. A little girl, two years of age, daughter of Mr. J. W. Paulger, was playing outside the house, and by some means opened the lid of a well and fell in and was drowned. On Saturday Mr. E. C. Robinson (late engineer of the Stratford County Council) was presented with an illuminated address by the working staff of the County Council.
