CRICKET.
PETONE WINS WELLINGTON CHAMPIONSHIP. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The senior cricket championship was won by Petone, who concluded a match against East on Saturday. East on the first day concluded the first innings for 181, while Petone had compiled 30 for one wicket. Petone batted all the afternoon, and declared at 300 for five wickets, scoring a two-point win (Brice 115, Gordon 47, Cate 35 not out). Baker, for East took two for 4G. Central, who had scored 47 in the first innings, resumed the second innings, which they completed for 208. Old Boys, with 32 in the first innings, declared at 142 for seven wickets in the second. Robinson, for Central, took five wickets_ for 50. Central secured a two-point win. North won on the first innings against University. On the first day 'Varsity scored 57 in the first innings, and North 129. 'Varsity's second innings produced 197 for six wickets, declared (Birch 43 not out, Fanning 35, Joplin 34, Broad 33). For North, Southall took three for 52, and Walters two for 15.
