THE FOURTH REINFORCEMENTS. A FIELD ]>AY AT TRENTHAM. Wellington, April 10. The whole of the Fourth Reinforcements, together with the new Field Artillery, Field Engineers, and Army Service Corps units, were marched out of camp yesterday morning and engaged in field operations, culminating in a general attack at dawn to-day upon the position held at Mangaroa by the Otago and Canterbury Infantry Companies pf the Fourth Reinforcements. The troops spent the night in bivouac, the weather being fine, and after concluding their operations this morning marched back to camp. To date the Government has purchased £532,000 worth of meat on behalf of the Imperial authorities. TOTAL ABSTINENCE. THE KING APPLAUDED. Wellington, April 10. _ The executive of tho New Zealand Alliance passed a resolution expressing pride and satisfaction at the King's decision to abstain from alcoholic liquors during the war and commending this illustrious example to those in authoiitv and all other loyal subjects of the King in New Zealand. MEAT FOR THE ALLIES. Wellington, Last Night. Since the introduction of the syste-n under which all meat exported from the' Dominion is consigned to the Imperial Government for tho use of the troops, tho New Zealand Government has purchased ,0532,000 worth of meat on behalf of the Imperial authorities.
