The total takings amounted to about £BO. HUIRANGI. The .anrtual meeting of the local euchre partieg was held in the hall last week. Sir. L. G. Andrews presided over a good attendance. The secretary (Mr. F. Smith) presented a statement of the year's working, showing a credit balance of £4 2s. Tt was decided to donate £3 to the hall fund. It was decided to cbarge an extra sixpence for the dance after the euchre parties to be held fortnightly during the present season. The following were appointed a committee for the ensuing year:—Mis s Mortimer, Miss Smith, Miss Herrick, Messrs. L. G. Andrews (chairman), F. Smith, F. Fay and Mr. S. Osborne secretary and treasurer. Mr. J. Fay was master of ceremonies for the dances. Mr. Surrey, on behalf of the hall trustees, thanked the meeting for its donation to the hall funds, and stated that as soon as sufficient funds were available the trustees would erect a porch over the front entrance to the hall. I have it on good authority that the homestead block of the Penearrow estate is sold, Mr. Hughes, of Tariki, being the purchaser. There only remains one section of 98 acres now unsold in this well-known block. I have counted on one farm a fine herd of about sixty goats. The owner considers that they are worth a pound a head. Mr. H. Andrews, our popular creamery manager, who got his hand badly crushed recently, hopes to be able to again resume control in a few days. We have now four motor-cars within a radius of two miles and a half:— Messrs. L. G. Andrews, W. Honnor, F. Old and J. Little being the latest converts. A euchre pnrtv and dance, promoted by the young ladies of the district, wad held in the hall on Wednesday evening, the net proceeds beinsr given to the Belgian Relief Fund. Of twelve games plaved Mrs. H. Sarten won eleven and took first ladies' prize. a. silver jewel case, donated by Miss Hutchinson; Mrs. Wheatley, second, a pair of vases, donated by Miss Mortimer; first gentlemen's. If. Andrews, a. wallet, donated by Mr. F. Smith: second. F. 'Proctor, ft pipe, donated by Mr. S. Osborne; boobv prizes, Miss Hutchinson and Mr. E. Giddy. Messrs. Andrews and Proctor both returned their prizes, which were sold during the evening, adding another pound to the funds. A good supper, provided by the ladies, was handed round, after which Mr. F. Smith, honorary secretary, thanked donors for the prizes. Dancing to music provided by Miss Carr was indulged in till 1.30 a.m. Mr. J. Fay acted as M.C. The net proceeds amounted to £4 Gs fid.
