SHORTAGE OF FORAGE. Melbourne, April 9. In connection with the fodder 'shortage the State lias "already secured from San Francisco three cargoes of hay, aggregating 12,500 tons. The earliest will arrive on June 7. Cargoes of oats from Argentine and Chilian ports arc being imported by private Arms. The shortage'is due to military requirements. It is hoped the stoppage is only temporary. GOVERNMENT CENSURED. Received April 0. 8.45 p.m. Sydney, April 9 At the Labor Conference last night the motion condemning the Government was reconsidered, and eventually negatived by 73 to 68. An amendment that the Government is deserving of the severest censure for allowing workers to suffer in this crisis was negatived by 76 to 81. > TRADING WITH THE ENEMY. TWO MEN FINEIt Received April 0,0.30 p.m. Sydney, April 9. Laurence Moss and Lawrence Phillips, two members of the firm of Moses, Moss & Co., were charged with attempting to trade with the enemy by means of sending a letter and a cablegram. Moss was found guilty in regard to the letter and fined £lO. Botlp were found guilty regarding the telegram and fined £SO each. Leave to appeal to the High Court was granted. FAREWELL TO OONTINGENTERS. Sydney, LApril 9. The official farewell to the eontingenters has been postponed from April 17 to April 25. * THE CREW OF THE ENDEAVOR. Melbourne. April 9. Mr. Tudor has announced that the trawler Endeavor's company, from captain to cook's boy, come within the provision of the Seamen's Compensation Act. Their dependents will receive an amount equal to three years' salary.
