THE PREMIER IN THE SOUTH.

The rremier arrived from the north this morning. Interviewed with regard to the motion of the Timber Workers' Conference condemning the Government for failing to protect the people from exploitation, Mr Massey said: "Let them bring along their evidence; it's useless to make general statements no matter how sweeping." He had not yet made up his mind as to whether he would attend the Premier's Conference as suggested by Mr Fisher.
BUILDING At GISBORNE.
Gisborne, April 8.
The building operations at Gisborne for the year ended March total £IOO,802. In the past three years over £3OO - 000 have been expended on buildings. Amongst the new buildings now decided on is a people's picture palace costing £13,000, to the order of a local company just floated.
