PLUMBERS' CONFERENCE.
REMITS ADOPTED.

At the annual conference of the New Zealand Federated Plumbers and Gasfitters' Association of Workers the following remits were adopted:—"That owing to the unsatisfactory state of the byelaws relating to the plumbing trade the federation urges the necessity of obtaining a uniform set of bye-laws for the whole Dominion; that owing to the unsatisfactory working of the Plumbers' Registration Act, 1012, with regard to work carred out by other than registered plumbers, the federation take the necessary steps to secure an amendment of the Act making provision for the appointment of inspectors by the Plumbers' Board for the proper observance of the Act; that the federation is not in accord with the attempt to open the door for the registration of persons, except by examination; that the federation is strongly opposed to provisional registration for twelve months to those plumbers who have previously failed to pass the necessary qualifying examinations.
