DESCENT ON HUNGARY.
CAPTURE OF THE HIGH ROAD.
HUNGARY FILLED WITH TERROR.
ARMY FALLING BACK.
Received April 8, 11.20 p.m. London, April S.
The Daily Mail's Petrograd correspondent states that hitherto the Russians in the Carpathians have been compelled to advance in single column, but the capture of Rostok Pass enables tliem to move up more compact bodies. Already Hungarian villages are in their , hands, including Polyena, where the high road to the plain begins. The Russians arc now pouring through the pass, and Hungary is filled with tciTor at their approach. The Russians are pentrating the chief range in the Carpathians with large forces, and will compel the Germans and Austrians to fall back for fear that their communications will be endangered. Nothing short of a miracle can avert Austrian humiliation.
