UPPER PITON-E ROAD. The annual school picnic was held on Wedne.Vay, April 7, in Mr. Fisher's paddock. '■" e weather was line, and there was ;• ■ ,ood attendance. There were

The most interesting events were the ladies' double handed sawing competition, the competitors being Mrs. Collins and Mrs. Alexander, Mrs. W. Fisher and Miss Jones, Miss Hawkins and Mrs. Bott, Mrs. Woodmoro and Miss Turehie. In the ladies' race, Miss Jones and Mrs. Sears tied twice. There were several children's races, and they caused great amusement. The ladies provided a very tempting luncheon, to which full juctice was done. At the end of the day a collection was taken for the Belgian Inmd, and £1 5s was realised. The school children gave all their winnings to the good purpose. The results of the competitions and races were as follow:

Shooting Competitions, No. 1: W.

Shooting Competitions, No. 2: H. T.

Ladies' Race (handicap): Mrs Scars. Men's Double Handed Sawing Competition: Five pairs competed. Won by Fisher Bros.

Ladies' Double Handed Sawing Competition: Four pairs competed. Won by Mrs. Collins and Alexander.

Challenge Match, school boys: Fisher ai.l Turehie. ■Chopping Competition: 11. [I. Fisher. Ladies' Nail Driving Competition, No. 1: Mrs. Alexander.

Ladies' Nail Driving Competition, No, 2: Mrs. Sears. Ladies' Race (handicap): Mrs Sears and Miss Jones.
