By Telegraph.—Press Asso'ciation. Napier, Tuesday. The strange disappearance of Conj stable Donald Shaw, of the Napier police force, has caused quite a sensation. He was on duty till 5 p.m. on that day and had been granted a day off for 'Good Friday, ar,c! COiiseqiieiitly 110 notice was taken of the fact that lie was not seeii about town on Friday. When he failed to report for duty on Saturday, however, inquiries were at once made, but no trace whatever has been found that would suggest his whereabouts, Constable Shaw's property at the police station, where he was in the habit of sleeping, is all in order, and no document of any kind has been found to throw any light on the man's strange disappearance. Inspector McOrath stated to a reporter that for some time past Shaw had suffered a good deal from insomnia, and on his applying for sick leave was granted six weeks' holiday.
