ITALY'S PREPARATIONS.
READY FOR LOXG WAR
CONTRACTS IN .AMERICA.
A Jfcw York message states that General C'hauand, who lias been supervising Italian purchases, will return to Italy shortly for active service.
It is declared by the International News Agency that Italy is prepared for n great campaign, and is making contracts which will assure deliveries as long as the war lasts. Contracts placed in America are reported to amount to £10,000.000.
One of the Rome papers, the Tribnna, praises the British press for what it has done in stimulating the patriotism o> the people, as a result of which the nation lias been enabled to raise an immense army. Britain's press, as the Tribuna points out, has also created among the masses a consciousness of the peril threatening not only the nation, but the whole Empire. " "From the bosom of an eminently pacific people not used to arms," the paper adds, "the first million soldiers have arisen as if by magic. Other millions are growing and maturing, ready to replace at the right moment those who are fighting in France."
