HIGH COMMISSIONER'S'
REPORT,
The High Commissioner reports, under date London, April 0, 2.40 p.m.: — Petrograd reports successful progress at certain points west of the Niemcn on Sunday. In the Carpathians, on the night of Friday and Saturday, and on Saturday in the region of Bartfeld, there was fierce figlitinsr with artillery and the bayonet. Twenty officers, more than 1200 soldiers, and two machineguns were captured. Progress was made on the front Mezolaborez-Czok. We captured during the day 25 officers, more than 2000 soldiers, and three guns. We occupied the railway station at Tsisna and captured engines, coaches, and a great stock of ammunition, and part of a provision column.
There was desperate fighting on Saturday and Sunday near the village of Okna, north of Czernowitz. We took more than a thousand prisoners the Austriaiiß had left behind.
The High Commissioner reports from London on April 7, 12.35 p.m.:— Army officers, killed 3, wounded 11; men, killed 058, wounded 1173, missing 63.
Paris reports that marked progress, was made by the Allies cast of Verdun. We occupied Gtissainoil and the heights dominating the river Orne. Further south we progressed in the direction of jMaigery. In the woods at Aillyand Brtille our gains were maintained. Fresh trenches were captured. Further progress was made in the wood Pretre. Prisoners state that in recent attacks six battalions of Germans \7gre destroyed.
