At yesterday's meeting of the Tarnnaki County Council, the chairman referred to the death of Foreman Holmes, and moved: "That this council place on record its appreciation of the faithful service rendered the council and ratepayers by the late Mr. John Holmes during tto 37 years he had been in the employ of the council, and desire to convey to Mrs. Holmes and familv tho most sincere condolence in their sad bereavement." This was carried. The council then decided to remit to Mrs. Holmes for one year the rent of thehouse she is occupying.
