Inside the distance Ladoga threw out a strong challenge and finished very strongly, but Warstep lasted long enough to win by a neck. First Glance, who met with some interference before coming into the straight, secured third place with a late run, but was six lengths behind Ladoga. Specialform, Multiply, and Court Martial were next, in order, Ogier lieing the last to finish. Time, 2.33 3-5.

Sydney, April 6. The Randwick thorough-bred yearling sales were held to-day. The continuous downpour affected the attendance, bidding was dispirited, and prices easy. The top price was paid for the Achilles ■—Stepina colt, OlOgs. Lots on behalf of Reid's, of Oamaru, and Sir George McLean, ranged from 40 to 360gs. S. Mcl.cod paid 75gs each for a Poseidon —Pleasant Surprise colt, and n Varco —Our Girl filly. Received April 7, 12.15 a.m. Sydney, April 6. One hundred and sixteen lots were sold, for a total figure of 16,555 guineas. The bidding improved later. Draft's brother ITaystiu brought llOOgs, and a three-(]uarter brother of Lady Wallace brought 1300gs. On behalf of Inn Duncan, of the Waikanae stud, besides the Achilles—Stepina colt, an Achilles— Mayhap filly brought 210gs; a Bcnzonian—Nerve colt 220gs; Benzonian— Mallaig colt 250gs; Martian—Portland Lass colt 200gs, and six other lots ranged from 4flgs to 140gs,
