Mutton.—The market is firm, with demand for'prime quality. North Island, C'/,d per 11) for best quality lightweight; heavy-weight, (id. Ewes.— There is less demand at 5 9-I(id.
Lamli.—Market very linn, with large demand for the better grades but limited demand for poorer grades. Other than Canterbury 8d per lb, and as high as S'/ ; d for very best quality; second grade 7%d.
Beef.—Market firm, with improved demand as the result of small arrivals. Chilled beef: New Zealand hinds, (i'/id; fores, fid; chilled hinds, 7%d; fores, (i'/if Frozen pork.—Tn large demand, owing to the ex-port of its being prohibited from Holland; 7'/id per lb. flutter.—Market quiet. Danish 138s to 142s per ewt.; New Zealand, 135s to 13Gs; Australian, 132s to 1345; Siberian, l'2fis to 1325; Argentine, 130s to 131s.
Cheese. —Market quiet, but steady. Canadian white and colored, 94s to 9Ss per ewt; New Zealand, white and colored, 03s to 945; .Australian, SBs to 925; United States, 88s to 90s; large Cheddar shapes up to 04s; English Cheddar, 98s to 102s. '
Ilemp.—Market returns firm, especially for near at- hand shipments. On account of congestion at the docks, spot parcels command premium. New Zealand good fair grade, £35 per ton; fair, £33; fair current Manila, £4O 10s. Forward shipment, New Zealand, good £34 10s; fair, £32 10s; fair current Manila, £4O. The output from Manila for the week was 20,000 bales.
Wheat.—Market quiet, and small business doing. Forward shipment, market is a shade weak. Canadian and American on passage,. 03s per quarter; April or May, 01s; Argentine, on passage, 00s (id. Oats. —Market inactive. Argentine, 28s 0d per quarteer, on passage. Kauri gum.—Nothing has been offered. Imports for February were one ton. f-itock on February 28 was 346- tons.
