DESPERATE FIGHTING. RUSSIANS TAKING MANY PRISONERS.
Received April 0, 8 p.m. Petrograd, April 5. Official: Fierce, artillery and bayonet fighting is reported north of BartfeM. We made prisoners twenty officers and 1200 men.
We also captured twenty-five two thousand men, and three guns Cii the front between Meyola, Bovey, and the Uszok Pass.
Desperate fighting occurred on Saturday and Sunday about the village of Okna, north of CV.ernowitz. We captured a thousand men left behind by the Austrians.
THE RUSSIAN ADVANCE. Received April 7, 12.15 a.m. Venice, April G. _ Seven divisions of Russians have arrived in the vicinity of Uszok Pass from Przemysl.
