A colonist of over fifty years' standing in the person of Mr.'W. H. Bent!— died on Wednesday at tlno Slater Miaericordiae Private Hospital, Auckland, at the advanced age of 76 years, after * comparatively; short illness. T6 e deceased, wlio was respected by a larjj# circle of friends, arrived in Auckland by the sailing ship Queen of Beauty ill 18®. fifty-two yearn ago, and for the greater portion of the time waß a resident of Auckland', Mr. Bentley was an old Gotcrnment employee, having been in tho service of the Lands and Survey Department up to within a short period of his death. He is survived fey a widow and' two sons and' one. daughter.
