RIFLE SHOOTING.
XEW PLYMOUTH DEFEATS WANGANUI.
A team of thirteen men from the Wanganui Rifle Club lived a match against a similar number from the New Plymouth Defence Rifle Club on Saturday morning at the Rewa Uewa riile range. The conditions were seven shots at each of the 300, f>oo and fiOUyils ranges, and the bust eleven scores on each side were counted. The day was squally and unfavorable for good shooting, so that Rillcman C. Arnold's !)(i for the local team and liilleman Christian's !).') for the visitors must be classed as distinctly meritorious. The match resulted in a win for New Plymouth by ten points. The visitors were eighteen points up at the short range, but the local team gained eleven on the intermediate and seventeen in the long range. The visitors were entertained at morning tea on the range, and at luncheon in the town by the local team. Three of them returned home by (he midday train, and the balance were taken by the local men for a trip to the breakwater in the afternoon. Yesterday they were also taken to various points of interest. Detailed scores:
