LETTERS FROM HON. J. ALLEN.

Mr. J. E. Wilson ,Mayor of New i'iymouth, is in receipt of the following telegram from the Hon. J. Allen, Minister of Finance.

"You will observe from the press that the scheme for collection of monies for the Belgian Fund provides for a quota from each separate province on a population basis. This works out at per month from your province. In order that some definite scheme may bo devised for your province, contributing this amount per month 1 should be glad if you would draw up a suitable letter to the mayors, chairmen county councils, chairmen poor of Great Britain and Ireland patriotic committees throughout the province, inviting their co-operation to ensure the success of the scheme. If you will kindly do this I will arrange that my letter to these gentlemen properly addressed for posting be sent you in order that you may support it with your communication requesting thoiv valuable assistance of concentrated action as far as each province is concenied. I am holding letter until I hear from you. Shall be pleased to have eariv reply."
