FOOTBALL.

TIIE TUKAPA CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING.

I The annual meeting of the Tukapu Football Club was held on Thursday Mr. James McLeod presiding over a good attendance. REPORT AND BALANCE SHEET. The annual report congratulated members on a successful season from a playing point of view. The seniors won seven, drew one, and lost two matches, scoring 122 points to 39 scored against tlicin. The juniors won 10, drew one, and lost two, scoring 132 points to 3(1. 'The juniors won in the Northert Division, but were beaten in the playoff with Hawcra by 5 points to 3. Financially, the club was still fairly sound. The committee congratulated the, members who had left its ranks for the front—namely, Messrs. Dawson Webster, Syd Paul, Gil Hawkins, Reg Quilliam, Roy Cargo, IT. Morshead, G. Brown, Len Leary, l\V. Wiley and W. Patterson, and wished them a safe return. The committee had allocated the medals donated as follow;. —Best senior player (late Mr. George Tabor), L. B. Stoiir; most improved player (Mr. J. McLeod), F. Perry; best junior player (late Mr. George Tabor), L. Whitakor; most improved junior (Mr. J. McLeod), X. West. There wa? every prospect that Saturday would lie the only half-holiday this winter. This would greatly strengthen their ranks, and, it was believed, would increase public, interest in the game. The committee recorded with regret the deaths of Messrs. George Tabor, James Oliver and F. Bullot, all old players of the club, whose loss would leave a great gap in the ring of its supporters. The balance sheet showed receipts to have been £SO 7s, aM expenditure £7O 12s 2d. The credit balance of £35 7s 2d had been reduced to £ls 2s. In the course of discussion, it was suggested that the gates in the senior and junior play-offs should be pooled, and the expenses paid therefrom, as the senior match ahvava showed a profit.

The report and balance sheet were adopted.

Votes of thanks were accorded the Press, Referees' Association, and retiring officers, and all supporters and donors of trophies.

TIIE CLIFTON CLUB. The annual meeting of the Clifton Club was called for last Wednesday evening, but owing to counter attractions there was a sparse attendance, and the meeting was adjourned until next Thursday evening. Cliftog, like other clubs, has sent many men to the front. Among others may be mentioned Reg Taylor and George Bertrand (of last year's representative team), S. Cameron, C. Brown and E. Roberts, a trio who would have worn the green and gold jersey this year. There are several new-comers to 'the district, and Clifton should still be able to put a strong fifteen in the, field. Cain is talking of forsaking the game this season, but it is unlikely that he will be able to resist the call when his club or his province requires him.-
