The wool sold at Homo was 109.(100 hales, for the Continent 12,000 bales, for the United States 5,000 bales, held IS,OOO j bales. Compared with the last closing sale, best greasy merinos were unchanged, average and faulty declined 74 par cent., scoured id to Id. All erossbreds met increasingly keen demand. Fine advanced 5 per cent., medium and coarse 10 per cent., scoured and slipes 5 per cent. Lambs—Merino unchanged, cro.«brcds advanced 10 per cent. At the wool sales the Kara clip brought top price 18d, average 17} d, To Kopu 18d and 17M. Wheat —Steadier, with more inquiry. Linseed oil, 355. Turpentine, 3Gs lOld.

At Douglas, on Monday, 20th ult., f'-r my monthly sale both sheep and cattle came forward in excess of advertised numbers. Buyers were present from all parts of Taranaki, and prompted by a strong demand from outside districts, . made, keen competition for all sheep offered, every pen being sold at the hammer at a sharp advance. Cattle were selling at a slightly improved rate, a good portion of the yarding be*.n;» cleared. Prices obtained were as Weaner steers (mostly small) £1 -s Oil to £1 17s; weaner heifers, 15s to £1 2s; 20-month empty heifers, £2 fis to £2 ■ 12a; 20-month in calf heifers, £2 15s to £3; 20-month steers, £3 14s to £3 17s; rough and small, £2 18s Gd; dairy cows, £7; bulls, £4 15s to £7 10s; | store cows, £2 12s (id to £4, accordug to size and condition; forward cows I from £5 5s for fair framed cows, to £7 | ids for heavy cows nearly fat. At Stratford on Tuesday, 20th ult., I liad a full yarding of both sheep and cattle, with a large attendance of the public. The demand again for sheep was unsatisfied, all lines offered at the sale being cleared at the hammer at prices very satisfactory to the vendors. Cattle were not so ready of sale, but several classes met With good competition. A good number of weaner heifers were yarded and sold, although prices were very low, vendors having evidently decided to accept these, prices rather than hold. Weaner steers and cows, with condition sold readily. Prices obtained were: Besto weaner steers, £1 Ms to £2 2s; fair cattle, £1 12s to £1 16s; small 20-month to 2%-year steers, £4 fls fid to £4 ISs; weaner ■ heifers. 15 s to £1 2s fid; aged store cows, from £1 13s for poor cows to £5 8s fid for cows with good condition; small store cows, £2 to £3 2s (id; fresh conditioned cows, £3 18s to £4 15s; forward cows, £5 as to £7 10s; fat cows, £7 14s to £8 2s fid; 4-year Lincoln ewes, (early shorn), 17s fid; A and 5year ewes, lfis fid and lfis 9d; 4-year Romney ewes, with percentage of 5year, lfis fid; guaranteed south-mouth ewes, early shorn, and showing a lot of Lincoln, 17s 3d; 4 and G-tooth ewes, with a full-mouthed sheep, 18s; fat ewes, ISs Od to 17s 2d; fat ewes and wethers, 19s lid; woolly, mixed aged ewes, (a small pen), 15s 3d; mixed aged ewes, (a rough line) 16s 4d; small 2-tooth wethers, lfis 3d; good lambs (off four weeks rape), 12s 2d; woolly lambs, 13s 7d; cull lambs, fis to 7s Id; full-mouth-ed ewes, 10s 3d to 14s; fat lamb, 15s.
