ANNUAL MEETING. At the annual meeting of tlie New Plymouth Operatic Society, Mr, E. S. Bayly presided over a good attendance. 'i'lie balance sheet showed a small credit and assets amounting to £llO. Officers were elected as follow for the ensuing year.—Patron, Dr. Lcatham; president, Mr. J. Johnston; vice-presi-dents, Messrs. If. Weston, W. C. Weston, 0. Samuel, C. C. Ward, IS. 11. Chancy; secretary, Mr. E. L. Humphries (re-elected); treasurer, Mr. E. S. Bayly; conductor, Mr. Renaud; assistant stage manager, Mr. A. MacDiar--111 id; wardrobe mistress, Mrs. Preece; business manager, Mr. P. Stainton; committee, M.rs. Birch--fohnstoii, Mrs. MacDiarmid. -Messrs. IL Collier and C. C. Ward, with officers ex officio; auditor, Mr. 11. Stocker.
Votes °f thanks were passed to Mrs. Riddles, Mrs. Wood. Mi's. MacDiarmid, Mis* Remind, Johnson, Bradbury, of the orchestra who gave service gratuitously. It 'was decided to request members to return all costumes. \ A committee, consistingNof Messrs. Stainton, Johnson and MacDiarmid, was set up to revise the viihsa of the society.
