London, March 28. The Colonial Office announces that Togoland, having been in military occupation since August 20, has become territory in friendly occupation within the meaning of the proclamation as to occupied territory.
IN EAST AFRICA.
A PRO-GERMAN RHINOCEROS.

During the fighting in East Africa native troops under British officers transported motor-cars by. night and cut off the Germans. A rhinoceros charged a car, but missed it. It charged the next and turned it over and killed some soldiers. It took 50 men to overcome the animal.
