In this book I'm gazing-, As the summer-sun-Clitters o'er the Channel', Licking ship ami guny Lighting up the- vessels In a glow of gold, And I heed the message Writ in days of old, England is the nation: Fore-ordaihed' to be Keeper of the weaker, Ruler of the- se«; Bravo and' open-hearted, Knowing- love, not hate— With her- mighty navy, Silent, strong and great! ; —E.
