A FAREWELL SOCIAL.

Last Thijrsday, in St Andrew's Schoolroom, a must enjoyable social was held 1 to bid farewell io Mr and Airs G. 11. Harle and family, who are leaving Nov* I'lymoum shortly for their future hor.it: in Ashblirton. After a short musical programme, a presentation was made to Mr and Mrs Harle by the Rev. llosoviare on behalf of the congregation, which took the form of a silver entree d':s:i, and hot water kettle, and a travelling Gladstone bag. Very happy little speeches were made by Mr PcrKms, wlio spoke on behalf of the Board of Malinger*; Mr McDiarmid, on behalf of I lie ladies' guild; Mr Wade, on behalf of the mission, and Mr Cocker, as a representative of the congregation, to all of w.i:< Ji Mr Harle suitably and feelingly replied. Those who assisted in the musi;Vl programme were Mesdames (Gooding MeWhirter, Broadmore, McGregor, Denton; Misses Roseveare, Rea, Leitch, Cant, Smith, and Rev. Roseveare, and Mr Haslam. Supper was handed round, and then a farewell hymn was sung, followed by the benediction. Good-byes to Mr. and Mrs. llarl c brought a ve:y pleasant evening to a close. Amongst those present were: Mrs Roseveare, Mrs Harle, Mrs McDiarmid, Mrs Broadmore, Mrs Golding, Mrs Balharry, Mrs Ewing, Mrs McNeil, Mrs Laing, Miss Roseveare, Mis 3 Smith, Miss .Jarvis, Mesdames Cocker, A. Smart, Candy, Fulton, Jarvis, Way, Hall, Greiner, A. Way, Walker, MeWhirter, Corney, McGregor, Leitch, Giddy, Bullard, Bannerman, Murphy, Simcoek and Misses Corney, Cocker, Lithgow, Lcitch, Rea (2), Houston, Tolme, Harle, Smith, Aic-ken, Jarvis.

1 BRIDGE.

Last Tuesday, Mrs J. Wyatt gave a most cnjoyabble hridgp party. The lio-t----css received her guests in a very pretty shell pink ninon robe, over a silk foundation, the corsage being deftlv trimmed with cream lace. Amongst those present were: Mesdames Jury, Apes, and Misses Lumsden, Cunjnrns, Crookshank, and Messrs Wyatt, Apes, Pipe, Younger and Crane..

Last Thursday, at fi a.m.. at To H.nni Church, a very ouiet wedding was soT^-mi-nised when Miss Vera Kjrkbv. only daughter of Mrs. Arthur Kjrkbv. -v.v united in the holv bonds of matrimony to Mr. W. G. Hunter, of Dannevirke. Th-> bride, was given away bv her uncle (Mr, W. J. Ponn) and the Rev H. A. Flavell performed the ceremony. \

PERSONAL. Miss Barbara guest of Mrs. E. Cornwall, Fitzroy. Mrs Chaney (sen.) who has been on a visit to Auckland, has returned. Mrs A. H. Colvile. who has been or. a short visit to Feilding, returned by the mail train yestercjav. Miss L. Whitcombe, who has been on a short visit to New Plymouth, has returned to Hawera. . Miss E. Holmes, who has been the guest of Mrs {l. Blundell, lias returned to her home in Rakaia, Canterbury. Miss A. Brewster left last Friday for Auckland, where she will be the of Miss Gwen Gorrie. Mr and Mrs J. Paton, who have bsen staying at the Mountain House, have returned.

Mrs and Miss Hartgill, who arc on a visit to New Plymouth, return to Dannevirke next Tuesday. ■ Mr and Mrs Wellington, are on a short visit to New Plymouth. Mr and Mrs Clarksnn, Eltliam. are at present in town, staying at the W.V.te Hart.

Mrs E. Blundcll is on a visit to Timani.

Mr and Mrs Ross. Urenui, arc staying at the White Hart. Mrs P. W. Catliro. Auckland, is tlu guest of her sister. Mrs S. Teed. Mr and Mrs W. Hunter (nee Mis-? Vera Kirkby) arc spending a few days in New Plymouth before journeying to their future home at Mokau. Mrs E. Griffiths and Madame Fedorowicz, who have been holiday-making the Mountain House, have returned. Mrs Honeyfield and Miss Newman, who have been the guests of Mrs \Y. Newman, have returned to Sydney. Miss Bean, ■Woodville, is the guest of Mrs Grant.

Mr Alf Grant, who has just returned from Samoa, arrives in New. Plymouth to-night on a visit to his parents. Mrs. J. Winfield, who lias been spending a few days in New Plymouth as the guest of Mrs Jas. Grant, returned to her home in Inglewood on Monday.
