A CONCESSION TO REBELS

DEATH SENTENCE ELIMINATED.

Capetown, March 25. While the Indemnity Bill was in committee, Mr. Smuts moved to eliminate the death sentence in conection, with the rebellion, and hoped the country would respond to the Government's policy to let bygones be bygones. Mr; Smart, Leader of the Opposition, supported the amendment, with • the reservation that it should not apply to Maritz.
